Aubignosc, an ancient village in the Sisteron region, retains traces of a rural settlement centred around its church and hamlets. Its history mirrors that of the farming communities of the middle Durance valley, which for many years relied on mixed farming and livestock rearing.
Geography & setting
Set amongst the terraces overlooking the Durance, on the border with the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the area combines wooded hills, farmland and views of the surrounding countryside. The valley provides a natural route to Sisteron in the north and Provence in the south.
